Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Offering project-based opportunities for staff participation throughout the year, the Library Sustainability Planning Group at The University of Michigan is an evolving and vibrant cross-divisional team. The Library Sustainability Group (LSG) was formed in order to provide a forum where staff can have their voices heard on sustainability within our institution, learn about sustainability-focused work happening across the library, and get involved in sustainability within their buildings, offices, divisions and campuses. Among our more exciting projects, LSG has instituted restroom and staff lounge paper towel composting; achieved workplace sustainability certifications across buildings and teams; promoted library collection resources in the areas of sustainability and environmental impact; and grappled with the ethical dilemma of distributing promotional swag which itself represents a tangible ecological footprint.
