During the spring of 2021, I co-created the Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement: A Radical Democratic Vision - Virtual Book Read! This event was sponsored jointly by Texas Tech University College of Education & Universities Library and Prairie View A&M University Minority Achievement, Creativity and High Ability (MACH-III) Center and co-sponsored by Wichita State University, Eastern Illinois University and Western Governors University, and Texas Tech University’s English Department, History Department, Honors College, Humanities Center, Division of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Office of Institutional Diversity, Law School, Women’s and Gender Studies. Each week, we had a keynote speaker that co-existed with the themes of that week. The final speaker was the author Dr. Barbara Ransby. The session will discuss planning the book read, working with multiple partnerships, overcoming technological issues, and more.
