We're about a month away from the start of Global Leadership Week! Read on to learn how you can participate in our newest event to designed to connect educators with global organizations and resources. Global Leadership Week is April 25-29, 2016.
What is Global Leadership Week?
Global Leadership Week (GLW) is a weeklong convening of virtual and face to face events designed to celebrate leadership through global action in K20 education. Student, educators, organizations and companies are welcome to design and host a (preferably) virtual event that will touch upon the importance of global education.
How Can I or My Organization Host an Event?
Showcase a global program or project, lead a discussion, write a collaborative manifesto, interview an expert or choose from a list of suggested activities. Host any activity that adds to the international dialogue regarding globally connected teaching and learning or educate leaders about international education programs and initiatives is welcome. We are counting on our community to help us call attention to the importance of fostering global competency in today's students and teachers. What are Some GLW Activities?
The GLW calendar is starting to fill. Some activities include:
- a webinar on digital citizenship from our friends at European Schoolnet
- a Twitter chat by led by educators in the Loudon County Public Schools
- another Twitter chat led by the Global Oneness Project
- an online panel discussion by globally-minded educators hosted by the Arlington Collegiate High School in Texas
What is the Global Leadership Summit?
The Global Education Conference itself is hosting two events during Global Leadership Week. One event is for people who will physically located in northern California on April 25th. This is a global leadership summit of ed tech and global education leaders designed to foster discussions and collaborations between the two sectors. Register ONLY if you can attend this event in person. (This is not an online event). The summit will be streamed online; details will be posted closer to the event.
What is Global Leadership Day?
Our second event is Global Leadership Day which is April 26th. We are hosting a virtual, online mini-conference and an initial set of invited speakers has been announced with more to come. No registration is required and a schedule will be posted shortly. All sessions will be recorded and posted for later viewing.
