Global Presenters Electrify Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference
You’ve saved the dates of October 3-5, 2012, and nominated keynote presenters. All the while you’ve been gathering your thoughts in preparation for submitting
your own talk proposal for the highly anticipated
Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference. This is the official call for presentation proposals.
The Library 2.012 conference is set to be inspirational and thought-provoking. This fully online conference presents a unique opportunity to showcase the excellent research and work that you do every day. Your participation will infiltrate the global conversation with knowledge, ideas, and excitement for the future of library and information science. Everyone is welcome to submit a presentation proposal and attend this free event.
The Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference presentations will cover six subject strands:
- STRAND 1: Libraries – Physical and Virtual Learning Spaces
- STRAND 2: Librarians & Information Professionals – Evolving Professional Roles in Today’s World
- STRAND 3: Content & Creation – Organizing and Creating Information
- STRAND 4: Changing Delivery Methods
- STRAND 5: User Centered Access
- STRAND 6: Mobile and Geo-Social Information Environments

Once you’ve identified a subject strand, you may submit an abstract of your talk for consideration. Presentation proposals will be accepted from
June 15 - September 15, 2012. Proposal acceptances will be communicated on a first-come, first-served basis starting July 10. If your proposal is accepted, you will be provided with the ability to schedule a presentation time that is convenient to your time zone and work schedule. The
Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference will be held fully online October 3-5 in multiple time zones and languages. Early proposal submission and acceptance will give you the most flexibility for scheduling your presentation during this 24-hour conference. There is a post-deadline submission process, giving you an additional week to submit your presentation proposal. Post-deadline submissions must be received by September 22, 2012, and will be considered only after the full review of those submitted on time. Acceptances will be contingent on available conference time slots and given in order of submission date.

As many of you know, last year we celebrated the Library 2.011 inaugural conference with 6,800 of our friends from 153 countries in 36 time zones! There were
160 fully online presentations scheduled around the clock. The tremendous enthusiasm heightens our excitement for this year’s conference, and we look forward to your participation! Please share this announcement with colleagues and friends.

San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science is a founding partner of the Library 2.012 Worldwide Virtual Conference. The nationally ranked school offers two fully online master’s degrees, a fully online certificate program, and a doctoral program: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Archives and Records Administration (MARA), Post-Master’s Certificate in Library and Information Science, and the San Jose Gateway PhD Program.
