About Me:
I started my library career with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, as a systems librarian. Since then, I've been a school librarian, service learning coordinator, and international educator for the past 25 years, most recently working at International School of Kuala Lumpur. My passions lie in education for lesser served communities, bringing progress through forging partnerships to promote literacy and service learning. I have helped to create a library system for rural schools in Bali, with 17 beautiful and flourishing libraries running and more being built. In my new position as Director of Educational Programs for Make a Difference Travel, a social enterprise that works for and with marginalized communities in creating impactful, inspiring, and authentic educational experiences, I am excited about opportunities in the Philippines to bring quality education and environmental progress here, via sustainable tourism, online learning and partnerships with schools and universities worldwide. I am particularly excited at the moment about partnering with an NGO in the Philippines to repurpose decommissioned coach buses into libraries for rural Filipino schools. A dream project for me!!
