About Me:
Gioko is Vice Principal –PD & Outreach at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa (Centre of Excellence). He has a vast experience in teaching Microprocessor systems, Information Technology, Computing Studies, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Pedagogy, ICT integration in Teaching and Leadership and Management. He is a Master Trainer with International Education and Resource Network and a Professional Development Teacher with Aga Khan University. He is an Examiner, and online facilitator and a journal reviewer with International Baccalaureate. He is married with two sons, he loves cycling, jogging, swimming and trekking. He is a Doctorial candidate on Management at Swiss Management Center University. He holds a Master in Education, Certificate in Science Education and Certificate in ICT Education from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan, Bachelor of Science (Physics and Mathematics) from Egerton University, Kenya, Diploma in Teacher Education and Certificates in Graphics Design and Media Studies from Mombasa Polytechnic, Kenya. He has attended Internships, Workshops, Seminars and Conferences in Asia, Europe, and Eastern and Southern Africa in from a range of curriculum based topics to Leadership and Management, Technology Integration and Education for Sustainable Development. He has taught Kenya National Examination Council (Ordinary and Higher Diploma), Kenya Certificate Secondary Education, General Certificate Education, International General Certificate Secondary Education and IB (Middle Years and Diploma program) curriculums. He has conducted workshops on Science, Projects and Integration of ICT in teaching and learning in Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan and Bangladesh. He has facilitated courses in Science Education, Educational Leadership and Management, Teaching, Learning and Assessments with the Aga Khan University IED, EA. He has facilitated Teachers Standard Course with the Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya. He has coordinated programs including, needs assessment, strategic planning, teacher training, leadership and management, teachers association and collaborative discussion forums. His research interests are on Project Management, Teacher Leadership, Curriculum Enrichment and Sustainable Development. He is a member of International Academic Partnership (IAP), International Education and resource network (IEARN), a Partner in Learning (PiL) Microsoft, Global Virtual Classroom (GVC), Global action Plan (GAP), International Federation of Informatics and Processing (IFIP), Learning Teachers (LT) and a Fellow Harvard University (HGSE) Future of Learning. A recipient of Second Most Innovative Teacher on Content in Africa(2010) and a finalist Africa representative at World Wide Innovative Education Forum (WWIEF) and Recipient of Most innovative Teacher in Southern and Eastern Africa (2011) Finalist Pan African Representative in Middle East and African Innovative Education Forum(2011)
