So, who’s read Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials Trilogy? What did you think? With the impending arrival of the movie version of The Golden Compass, this seems like a good time to start a thread on Pullman’s series. And, for anyone who’s interested, the following three books offer some unique perspectives on Pullman’s trilogy.Navigating the Golden Compass: Religion, Science and Daemonology in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials edited by Glenn YeffethThe World of the Golden Compass: The Otherworldly Ride Continues edited by Scott WesterfiledHis Dark Materials Illuminated: Critical Essays on Philip Pullman's Trilogy edited by Millicent Lenz with Carole ScottThe first two are filled with a wide variety of essays aimed at a popular audience while the last volume is more academic in nature. Lots of good stuff here! I thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of opinion available in each of these books. Anyone that's planning to do a book discussion might find them useful.
