Article: Virtual Friendship and the New Narcissism

I thoroughly enjoyed the following article. It addresses many of the questions that we face concerning our virtual dignity (or lack thereof), and it has challenged me to think even more about my beliefs and assumptions. One of the effects of reading this article has been to solidify an idea that’s been floating around the edges of my awareness for quite some time: We will always attract others that honor us in the same way and to the same extent that we honor ourselves. This seems to be equally true whether we’re considering our online or offline selves. It was worth reading the article just to have that concept click into place.http://www.thenewatlantis.com/archive/17/rosen.htm(Lisa, thank you for the ongoing dialogue – even though we may occasionally disagree strongly - and the link to the article!)

  • That sounds like a fascinating read! The idea of virtual dignity and how it relates to our self-honor both online and offline is quite thought-provoking. The notion that we attract others who honor us similarly to how we honor ourselves is a powerful concept that can influence our interactions and relationships.

If you found that article engaging, you might also enjoy exploring more about digital identity and the impact of social media on our self-perception and relationships. It's a rich field with plenty of interesting research and discussions.

Is there a particular aspect of virtual friendship or online behavior that you're curious about or want to delve deeper into? Or perhaps there's another topic you'd like to explore? Let's keep the conversation going!
