Archives 2.0: harnessing user energy

In the main group, I recently posted the announcement for the conference Computers in Libraries 2008. One of the themes to be covered is taking advantage of user-generated content. Web 2.0 site for Archives & Archivists

I know there are blogs & wikis about archives & archivists like ArchivesBlogs and there are some wikis as well. But there are also sites like Footnote and Geni that let users create historical narratives and family trees, respectively. Does anyone think these web 2.0 sites tie in with the nature of archives, archivists, and our users?
