Full Session Description: This presentation deals with copyright law issues including but not limited to expression, fixation, originality, ownership, notice, registration, duration, fair use, web-based concerns and case law/statutory authorities related to the subject.
Objectives are as follows:
At the conclusion a participant will be able to:
- understand the basics of copyright law,
- explain and apply the concepts of expression, fixation, originality, ownership, notice, registration and duration regarding written and Internet-based forms,
- utilize and employ the ideas of fair use, public domain, expiration and forfeiture as exceptions to copyright requirements,
- discuss and describe how the law affects copyright owners nationally and internationally,
- recognize recent court decisions on the subject and analyze them,
- identify and evaluate current pieces of legislation involving copyright, and
- apply knowledge of copyright fundamentals to real-life situations.
