As artificial intelligence continues to expand across various fields, librarians are uniquely positioned to navigate its ethical, practical, and innovative applications. Librarians have a responsibility and an opportunity to educate our patrons on the use of AI, but there is also an increasing variety of ways we can use AI to enhance our work while maintaining strong ethical boundaries.

This session explores how AI tools can empower librarians in daily workflows, from automating repetitive tasks to enhancing research assistance and streamlining collection management. By focusing on where AI fits into library work and addressing ethical considerations attendees will gain practical insights and critical thinking strategies. Additionally, the presentation will introduce emerging AI tools worth exploring and highlight the importance of understanding AI’s capabilities to write and debug code effectively. By fostering ethical awareness and practical skills, this session aims to equip library professionals to use AI responsibly and confidently, enhancing their roles as informed resources for their patrons.
