Identify strategies to develop an introductory workshop on generative AI for undergraduate and graduate students, with a focus on ChatGPT
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
With the rapid advancements in generative artificial intelligence (AI), libraries play a pivotal role in equipping students with the necessary skills to navigate and harness the potential of these emerging technologies. This presentation will highlight the development and implementation of an introductory ChatGPT workshop by a librarian at a Canadian university.
The workshop emerged as a proactive response to the increasing prevalence of generative AI technologies, specifically ChatGPT, within educational settings. Recognizing the lack of available information or training for students regarding ChatGPT, the workshop was developed during the summer and offered in Fall 2023. This workshop will be used as a case study on how librarians and instructors may develop their own generative AI workshop for students at their own institutions. The workshop curriculum included foundational concepts of AI, how large language models work, practical applications of ChatGPT, critical thinking skills, and ethical considerations.

I love this presentation proposal! It covers all of the bases of the TCoP Model of Technology Integration and is an effective instructional strategy in the environment of a library. The only thing I might propose is that the word "students" be changed to "patrons."
Thanks for the feedback, Reed! That's a good suggestion.
Offers practical guidance for librarians wishing to take a leadership role in teaching students about ChatGPT that will likely interest many attendees. Proposal is professionally written, clear, and concise. I recommend this proposal for selection.
Thanks for your support, D'Arcy! :)
